Maruti Victoris Renamed as Suzuki Across for Seychelles Market in Africa:
Maruti Suzuki has expanded its export portfolio by launching the India specific Victoris SUV in Seychelles under the name Suzuki Across effectively reusing a nameplate previously associated with a different vehicle in Europe The car which was recently introduced in the Indian market as the Victoris has been rebranded for the East African nation but remains mechanically and visually identical to its domestic counterpart except for the change in logos and the left hand drive configuration This naming strategy has drawn attention because Suzuki already sells a vehicle named Across in European markets which is a rebadged version of the Toyota RAV4 whereas the Seychelles model has no connection to the Toyota platform and is fully manufactured in India Reports indicate that the new Suzuki Across for Seychelles features the same design language as the Victoris including the specific grille and alloy wheels and is powered by the one point five liter petrol engine options familiar to Indian buyers The interior also mirrors the Indian version with the primary difference being the steering wheel placement suitable for local traffic rules By exporting the Victoris to Seychelles Maruti Suzuki aims to strengthen its foothold in the African region capitalizing on the demand for robust and affordable SUVs while navigating trademark strategies that allow the reuse of the Across name in markets where the European model is not sold This move highlights the increasing importance of Indias manufacturing hub in Suzukis global operations as the company continues to ship models like the Grand Vitara and now the Victoris to international destinations
