Maruti’s first electric SUV for just ₹ 10.99 lakh! The price of e VITARA surprised everyone

The demand for electric vehicles is increasing rapidly in India. In such a situation, the country’s largest car company Maruti Suzuki has announced the starting price of its first fully electric SUV Maruti e VITARA. People are really surprised to hear the price, because it starts at just ₹ 10.99 lakh.

Battery is separate, vehicle is separate – the wonder of BaaS model

Maruti has introduced e VITARA with Battery-as-a-Service i.e. BaaS model. This means that the price of the vehicle will be different and the battery usage charge will have to be paid separately.

The company will charge battery usage charge of ₹3.99 per kilometer. This reduces the initial cost of the vehicle and does not impose a huge lump sum burden on the customer. In local language, it is a system of “as much as you drive, as much as you fill”.

Range and variant information

Maruti e VITARA claims a range of approximately 543 kilometers on a full charge. It will be brought in three variants – Delta, Zeta and Alpha.

It will have two battery options – 49 kWh and 61 kWh. Small battery will be provided in the base variant and big battery in the top variant. That means complete freedom to choose according to budget and need.

Large scale charging network

To reduce range anxiety, the company has prepared to install more than 2,000 charging points in 1,100 cities across the country. Special focus has been placed on the top 100 EV cities.

The company has also partnered with 13 big charging operators, so that customers do not face any problem in charging.

Special attention to safety and ownership

More than 60% high and ultra high tensile steel has been used in the body of the SUV. The battery pack has been designed with special energy absorbing mounting, which increases safety. The company is also offering facilities like subscription model and assured buyback.

Overall, with low price, long range and different battery models, Maruti’s e VITARA can prove to be a big game changer in the electric SUV segment. For domestic customers, it seems to be a light deal on the pocket and heavy on features.
