Massive hit to SA as their captain is rested for 2nd test v BAN

South Africa’s captain Temba Bavuma has been put to rest from the second Test against Bangladesh because of a left elbow injury. Even though he showed significant improvement, he has not recovered to participate in any match.

On October 25, Cricket South Africa (CSA) confirmed that Bavuma will not be present for the second Test which is set to begin from October 29.

Aiden Markram will captain the team in Bavuma’s absence yet again. After they secured a dominant seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the 1st test, South Africa made their way to the fourth place in the rankings of the ICC World Test Championships 2023-25.

South Africa completed a target of 106 runs in just 22 overs on Day 4. A nine-wicket haul by Kagiso Rabada turned out to be an anchor in South Africa’s victory.

The victory against Bangladesh marks a historic moment for South Africa, as it ended a decade-long shortage in the subcontinent. This achievement is mainly special for the current squad since none of the players had previously been in a South African team which won in Asia.
