Sanju Panda told, “For this tradition, a vow has to be taken for a quarter of a month, which lasts from Basant Panchami to Holika Dahan. During this period, celibacy has to be followed, attachment to the family is eliminated. Do not go out of the limits. Do not even consume food for a quarter of a month.”
What are the hard and fast rules?
To follow this tradition, the seeker has to observe strict fasting and abstinence for about one and a quarter months. He does not go out of the village limits, observes celibacy and gives up food. It is believed that only because of this spiritual discipline and penance he is able to come out safely from the fire.
