Matthew Forde is a Barbadian cricketer. He plays for St Lucia Kings in the Caribbean Premier League and in the Lanka Premier League for Dambulla Aura. His performances in T20 leagues helped him earn his ODI and T20I debuts for the West Indies in December 2023 at the age of 21.

He played for St Lucia Kings in the 2022 CPL and later that year for Dambulla Aura in the LPL. His nine overs had an economy rate of 5.55 for Dambulla Aura. In October 2022, he made his List A debut for Combined Campuses and Colleges in the Super50 Cup.

After his international debut against England in December 2023, Forde played in multiple T20 leagues, including the Bangladesh Premier League in January 2024 and the Pakistan Super League for Islamabad United in March 2024. He also toured Nepal with West Indies A in April–May 2024 and finished as the second-highest wicket-taker in that T20 series.

In December 2019, Matthew Forde was the West Indies Under-19s’ highest wicket-taker in a home tri-series against England and Sri Lanka, with an economy rate of 3.69. He then played in the 2020 Under-19 World Cup in South Africa, taking 3 for 24 in his first match and helping bowl Australia out cheaply along with Jayden Seales.



In the 2022 Lanka Premier League, he scored his first T20 fifty and produced an all-round performance of 52 off 30 balls and 4 for 11 against Galle Gladiators for Dambulla Aura.

He made his ODI debut for West Indies on 9 December 2023 against England, taking 3 for 29, scoring 13 not out, and winning the Player of the Match award. Against Ireland, he scored a 16-ball fifty, equalling AB de Villiers’ record, and finished with 58 off 19 balls.

Matthew Forde’s Personal Life

Matthew Forde is from Barbados, a country with a strong cricket history. He was naturally drawn to cricket from a young age and always had a bat and ball while growing up. He said he was not the best player early on, but around the age of 15 or 16 he began working seriously on his game and focused on becoming established as a cricketer. Cricket was always his first love, and he knew he did not want a desk job because he preferred being active.

He made his ODI debut for the West Indies against England in December 2023 at Kensington Oval in Barbados. Playing in front of his parents, family, and friends, he took 3 for 29 and was named Player of the Match.

He credited Adrian King for introducing him seriously to cricket during summer camps in Barbados, and Roddy Estwick for developing his game and pushing him to improve. He also thanked Daren Sammy for giving him opportunities with the St. Lucia Kings and the West Indies.

Away from cricket, Forde enjoys swimming and spending time at the beach. He also plays PlayStation and cards with teammates. He describes himself as an active person who likes staying busy.
