Mau MLA Abbas Ansari spoke in the UP Assembly for the first time in 4 years, while talking about the health system, said- ‘Understand my helplessness’
Thursday, February 13, 2026, was a memorable day for many reasons in the session of Uttar Pradesh Assembly. Amidst the heated exchange between the ruling party and the opposition, a moment came when all the members present in the House became silent for a few moments. This was the occasion when Subhaspa MLA from Mau and son of Mukhtar Ansari, Abbas Ansari, was presenting his views. Abbas Ansari became emotional while addressing the House for the first time in four years.
Abbas Ansari got the opportunity to speak during the ongoing discussion on the motion of thanks on the Governor’s address. He started his speech with the problems of his assembly constituency Mau, especially drawing the government’s attention to the poor condition of the health system.
Issue of poor condition of hospitals and shortage of doctors
Abbas Ansari told the House that there is only one 70-bed hospital for his entire area, whereas more than 200 patients are admitted there all the time. He said that the situation is so serious that people have to wander to other cities for treatment. He also stressed on the urgent need of a trauma center in his area.
He said that there is a huge shortage of doctors, especially specialist doctors, in the district, due to which the public is facing a lot of problems. Open drains also remain a big problem, due to which diseases are spreading.
Ansari became emotional when the Speaker interrupted
While Abbas Ansari was speaking, his scheduled time started ending. On this, Manoj Pandey, who was presiding over the House, signaled him to end his speech. At the same time, Abbas Ansari folded his hands and made a touching appeal to give him some more time.
“I will take only 30 seconds sir.. I have got a chance for the first time in four years. Understand my helplessness and I don’t even know for how long I will get a chance to speak. You know… so listen to me..” — Abbas Ansari, MLA, Subhaspa
This statement of Abbas made the atmosphere of the House serious. On his appeal, Chairman Manoj Pandey also showed leniency and said, “No, you will speak further also..” After this Abbas completed his speech and presented the issue of shortage of doctors in detail. For the first time in four years, his voice echoed in the House, which expressed the problems of his area as well as his personal circumstances.
