Mavinakayi Chitranna Recipe

Life Style: Mavinakayi Chitranna is a popular South Indian festive dish prepared on the festival of Ugadi. Mavinakayi Chitranna, also known as Mango Rice, is a delicious dish made from rice. 2 tbsp roasted peanuts

1 spoon chana dal

1/4 teaspoon asafoetida

1/4 teaspoon turmeric

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1 piece dry red chilli

3/4 cup grated raw mango

1 teaspoon mustard seeds

1 spoon urad dal

2 stalks curry leaves

3 teaspoons grated coconut

salt as required

Step 1 Cook the Rice

First of all, cook the rice in your usual way. Once cooked, set them aside for later use.

Step 2 Heat oil in pan

Now heat oil in a pan, add asafoetida, dry red chilli, curry leaves, gram dal and urad dal. Let them crackle for a few minutes.

Step 3 Add grated mango

Add raw grated mango and turmeric powder. Mix well.

Step 4 Fry well

Fry for a few minutes until the mangoes start shrinking.

Step 5 Add Cooked Rice

Finally, add cooked rice and mix well. Add salt as per your taste.

Step 6 Garnish and serve
