Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said during a weekly media briefing that mutually agreed patrolling has started in Demchok and Depsang following the patrolling agreement with China. On Thursday, soldiers of both the countries exchanged sweets on the LAC on the occasion of Diwali. This tradition was fulfilled when both the countries completed the process of withdrawal of troops at Demchok and Depsang. Due to which there is a softening in the relations between the two countries.
Sources had earlier said that patrolling conditions were expected to be brought back to pre-2020 levels. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri had said in Delhi on October 21 that an agreement has been reached between India and China after several weeks of talks, which will lead to resolution of the problems faced in 2020. This agreement is based on patrolling along the LAC in eastern Ladakh and the process of disengagement of troops.
