From Beauty Queen To Bollywood Star

Namrata Shirodkar’s career began in the glamorous world of modelling. She was crowned Miss India in 1993 and went on to represent India in the Miss Universe pageant, where she secured sixth place. This early success in the world of beauty pageants opened doors for her in the entertainment industry. She made her acting debut in 1997 with the film Mere Do Anmol Ratanwhere she starred alongside Arshad Warsi and Mukul Dev.

She went on to appear in several notable films, including Really with Sanjay Dutt, Is love for someone? with Salman Khan, call with Anil Kapoor, and Albela with Govinda. During the late ’90s and early 2000s, she worked with some of the biggest stars in the cinema and her career seemed to be heading in the right direction.

Namrata Shirodkar's Career Struggles

However, despite her early successes, Namrata Shirodkar’s career faced several setbacks. She starred in several films over six years, 16 of which turned out to be flops at the box office. In an attempt to revitalize her career, she moved to the South Indian film industry. Unfortunately, her efforts did not bring the success she had hoped for, though she did find something far more meaningful on the sets of a South film – her future husband, Mahesh Babu.

Namrata Shirodkar's Departure From Acting

Namrata Shirodkar met Mahesh Babu in 2000 on the sets of their film Vamsi. The two began dating shortly after and got married in 2005. The couple lives in Hyderabad and has two children, a son named Gautham and a daughter, Sitara. Namrata Shirodkar’s last film as an actress was Pride And Prejudice in 2004. Since then, she stepped away from acting to focus on her family life.
