Working with a disability has always been challenging for many. However, there are some who transform their pain into power and become an inspiration. The actress we are talking about is one of them. She was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy, which left her with a paralyzed left side of the face. We are talking about Raageshwari Loomba.
Raageshwari started at an early age and has worked as an Indian singer, actress, television personality, and mindfulness speaker. In no time, Raageshwari gained immense fame and recognition. However, one tragedy caused her to step away from her career at the pinnacle of her success.
Raageshwari Loomba made her grand Bollywood debut at the age of 16, starring alongside Chunky Panday in the film Aankhen. The movie became one of the highest-grossing films of the year, propelling her to stardom. She later appeared in Main Khiladi Tu Anari, where she portrayed Akshay Kumar’s sister and Saif Ali Khan’s love interest.
During her career, Raageshwari also hosted several TV shows, including Baar Baar Dekho, MTV Ek Do Teen, Kuch Kehti Hai Ye Dhun, and more. Apart from this, Raageshwari was one of the performers in the concert Heart Throbs: Hrithik Roshan World Tour Live. Loomba is also an ex-Bigg Boss contestant, having appeared in season 5.
However, Raageshwari’s life completely took a U-turn when, just a week after one of her concerts, she was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy. This condition paralyzed the left side of her face and caused a slur in her voice. Despite this, the actress never gave up. The following year, she sought help and underwent physiotherapy, electrical stimulation, and yoga. She then decided to leave the industry for good. Reports claim the actress was hardly 25 when the incident happened.
Today, the former actress is married to a London-based human rights lawyer, Sudhanshu Swaroop KC. She lives in London with her family and is also an author with Penguin India and a Life Coach.
