Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s series Heeramandi turned out to be a massive hit among audiences. While the series earned appreciation for actresses such as Manisha Koirala, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Sonakshi Sinha, and Aditi Rao Hydari, it became a disaster for SLB’s niece, Sharmin Segal. Throughout her career, Sharmin has featured in only two films and has worked as an assistant director on two other projects. Unfortunately, her career graph never took off, and she has not delivered any major hits on her own.

In 2019, Sharmin made her debut as a lead actress in the film Malaal. However, she couldn’t make a significant impact, and the movie turned out to be a flop. Her second film, released on OTT in 2022, also failed to make an impression. In 2023, Sharmin married a businessman who owns property worth over Rs 53,000 crore. Before venturing into acting, Sharmin worked as an assistant director with Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Bajirao Mastani and Mary Kom, both of which were box-office successes.

Interestingly, despite Malaal not performing well at the box office, Sharmin won the Filmfare Award for Best Debut Actress. In 2022, she starred opposite Pratik Gandhi in Atithi Bhooto Bhava, but it also didn’t fare well. Most recently, Sharmin appeared in Bhansali’s series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. Though the series became a hit, Sharmin’s performance failed to resonate with the audience. Despite having significant screen time, she couldn’t captivate viewers and faced criticism. Many accused her of nepotism and she was trolled online for her performance.

Sharmin Segal’s Family Background

Sharmin comes from a film-oriented family. Her father, Deepak Segal, is a film executive, while her mother, Bela Segal, is a film editor. Her uncle, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is one of Bollywood’s most renowned filmmakers. Her grandfather had a successful 40-year career as a director in the industry.

Sharmin Segal’s Married Life

In 2023, Sharmin married businessman Aman Mehta. According to NDTV, Aman’s total property is valued at Rs 53,800 crore. He serves as the Executive Director of Torrent Pharmaceuticals, part of the Torrent Group.
