Building a successful business with a tiny investment is a monumental task which only a few entrepreneurs have been able to accomplish. One such inspiring success story is that of Pramod Kumar Bhadani, a man from Gaya, Bihar, who began his entrepreneurial journey with just Rs 2,500 by selling laddus on a pushcart, and today runs a lucrative business with an annual turnover of over Rs 50 crore.
Who is Pramod Kumar Bhadani?
A native of Gaya in Bihar, Pramod Kumar Bhadani was born into an impoverished household and spent his childhood in poverty as his father sold laddus on a pushcart to provide three square meals to the family. Pramod attended a local government school but dropped out at the age of 14 as he wanted to support his family by helping his father in selling laddus.
Pramod and his brother borrowed a meagre sum of Rs 2500 from their father and began selling laddus on a cart in their hometown. Soon, their succulent laddus became famous among locals and business boomed. However, Pramod Kumar Bhadani was not content with selling laddus on a cart, and wanted to expand his business at a much larger scale.
Rs 2500 laddu cart to Rs 50 crore business
Driven by the dream to build a big business, Pramod Kumar Bhadani worked tirelessly, preparing laddus through the night and selling them during the day. According to some accounts, Pramod worked around 19 hours daily and barely slept as he persevered to expand his small business.
Pramod’s first big break came when he transitioned from selling laddus on his cart to opening a small sweets shop. Business grew rapidly after that and soon he began started supplying his homemade laddus to other parts of Bihar and later to Jharkhand and other neighbouring states.
Gradually, Pramod’s business took the shape of a factory which makes laddus using a traditional recipe with strict adherence to hygiene.
As per information on his official business website, Pramod’s Pramod Laddu Bhandar has a total of eight outlets in Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Orissa and Kolkata, and has annual turnover of Rs 50 crore. Apart from selling its trademark laddus, Pramod Laddu Bhandar also specializes in other sweets, namkeens, and bakery products.
Today, Pramod Kumar Bhadani, who once sold laddoos on a pushcart, is a millionaire entrepreneur, who is giving stiff competition to major brands like Haldiram and Bikanerwala.
