Noted industrialist and Tata Group Chairman Emeritus Ratan Tata passed away in October last year at the age of 86, and following his demise, the media spotlight has turned to some of the lesser known members of the illustrious Tata family, including Ratan Tata’s half brother, Noel Tata, and his children and their lives.

Noel Tata, who was picked as the Chairman of Tata Trusts after Ratan Tata’s passing, is married to Aloo Mistry, and the couple have three children– Leah Tata, Maya Tata, and Neville Tata.

Neville Tata is the second child of Noel Tata and Aloo Mistry, the sister of former chairman of Tata Group, late Cyrus Mistry. The 32-year-old, who heads Star Bazaar, a part of Tata Group’s retail operations under the hypermarket division of Trent Ltd, is married to Manasi Kirloskar of the Kirloskar family of Pune, a distinguished business family which runs the Kirloskar Group.

Who is Manasi Kirloskar?

Manasi Kirloskar is a member of the Kirloskar family, an esteemed business family which runs the Kirloskar Group, a company as old as the Tata Group itself, established by its founder Laxmanrao Kirloskar in the year 1888.

Manasi was born on August 7, 1990 and has a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts from Rhode Island School of Design in the United States. In 2019 she got married to Noel Tata’s son, Neville, in a private affair held at Ratan Tata’s Colaba home in South Mumbai. Manasi and Neville are now parents to two kids, a boy and a girl, named Jamsetji Tata and Tiana Tata, respectively.

After her father’s demise in 2023, Manasi Kirloskar was appointed the new Vice Chairperson of Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts (TKAP) and Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM). She also serves as the Chairperson of Toyota Engine India Limited (TIEI), Kirloskar Toyota Textile Private Limited (KTTM), Toyota Material Handling India Private Limited (TMHIN), and Deno Kirloskar Industries Private Limited (DNKI).

“Ms Manasi Tata, a graduate from the Rhode Island School of Design in the US, is well conversant in Toyota manufacturing processes and with the Japanese work culture. A fifth-generation scion of the Kirloskar empire, Ms. Manasi holds art very close to her heart and her NGO, “Caring with Colour” leverages this passion of hers, works with Government schools in three districts of Karnataka,” according to her bio on Toyota India website.

Apart from her accolades in the business space, Manasi Kirloskar is also an accomplished artist, with her artwork being showcased in an exhibition when she just 13.

While there is no publicly available information about the wealth possessed by Manasi Kirloskar, she is heiress of the Kirloskar Group, which has a market valuation of Rs 15600 crore, making her one of the richest women in the country
