Shakti Kapoor married actress Shivangi Kolhapure, and the two have been together for 43 years. In a recent interview, the actor shared how he once begged Shivangi to marry him. In a conversation with Ankit on the YouTube channel Timeout with Ankit, Shakti Kapoor recalled, “I met her when she was a child artist, and I was playing an older character in a film (sic).”

He expressed how, at one point, he realized how lucky he was to have met such a beautiful and grounded person. However, the turning point came when he told her that he needed to focus on his work and she got angry. He shared, “She’s 12 years younger than me. We met, fell in love, and I thought to myself, ‘Where would I find such a domestic and beautiful girl?’ One day, I told her that my work was getting disturbed, and I needed to focus. She got angry (sic).”

Sharing the story of how he proposed to Shivangi, Shakti said, “I went to her and begged her. I apologized and told her that I wanted to marry her (sic).”

Shakti Kapoor added, “I still fold my hands before her and thank her for everything.” Shakti shared that they had a court marriage, and soon after, their families accepted their union. Shivangi sacrificed her career in singing and everything else for Shakti. “I also told her that I wanted her to be a housewife. We had a court marriage, and after that, everyone accepted us. She gave up her singing career and everything else for me (sic), said Shakti Kapoor.

He expressed his deep gratitude, saying that he still bows to her for everything she has done for him. Together, they have two children, actress Shraddha Kapoor and actor Siddhant Kapoor, both of whom have followed in their parents’ footsteps in the film industry.
