This makeup artist has won several awards for her worr. After battling cancer, dealing with dyslexia, she has managed to stand on her. Read on to know this famous personality.

But surviving the hurdles when you least expect it, is what may help us improve and be better versions of ourselves. one such story is one of the famous makeup artist in India. She faced everything in life with utmost courage, come what may. From getting married as a teenager, to having embezzled in business to winning awards and now working as a successful entrepreneur, she is a self made woman.

This make up artists has worked with Aishwarya Rai, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif and several other famous celebrities. She has also won several awards for her work as an artist.While achieving all of this, s he lives with dyslexia and also is a cancer survivor. Her name is Ambika Pillai.

A cancer survivor, make up artists and businesswoman

Hailing from Kerala, Pillai is the second of four sisters. She got married at the age of 17 and had a daughter named Kavitha at 22. She later got a divorce at 24. She started working as a hairstyle and makeup artist. That seemed to be her calling.  Pillai boasts of working for FDCI’s India Fashion Week in 1999-2000. Post that, she has worked with big names  from Rohit Bal, Sushmita Sen, Sonam Kapoor etc.

Things took a hit when she was diagnosed with cancer in 2017. Not just that, bit she was also cheated by her friend and a business partner. “I have learnt my lessons the hard way, yet I am not disillusioned by people,” she told The Weekend Leader.

Years into the business, she happened to notice discrepancies in the accounts. As a person with dyslexia, she struggled with academia and maths was not her strongest suit. “I clearly remembered doing 22 bridal make-ups one day, for instance, because it was my birthday, but the accounts register for that day mentioned only two. This is the level to which I was being cheated.”

Buth there was no stopping her. She picked up herself and continued to build her own name. She received the IIFA award for Best Makeup artist too.

After all the turmoils and hardship, in 2019 she launched her own herbal beauty brand – Ambika Pillai line of skin and hair care products. “Now I am enjoying a lot of me time. Work from home is a whole new world for me. I write short stories and am thinking of writing a book at some point,” Pillai said as quoted by The Voice of Fashion.
