Nidhi Yadav once worked at Deloitte, one of the world’s top audit firms, but she soon realized the job wasn’t fulfilling her. She often felt unmotivated to go to the office, and it was during this time that her colleagues and seniors encouraged her to follow her heart. That’s when it hit her—her true passion was in fashion. Taking a leap of faith, she quit her corporate job and enrolled at Polimoda Fashion School in Florence to chase her dream. After completing a one-year program, she was offered a job in Italy. But instead of taking the easy route, she chose to return to India, take a bold risk, and launch her own fashion brand.

In 2014, Nidhi founded Aks Clothing with an initial investment of Rs 3.5 lakh, aiming to cater to the contemporary fashion needs of women aged 18-35 at affordable prices. Her venture quickly gained momentum, achieving an impressive Rs 100 crore in revenue within just five years. Before starting her business, Nidhi extensively researched Zara’s business model in India, drawing valuable insights. Her game-changing strategy was introducing 20 new styles every two weeks, a unique approach that set her apart and helped her carve a niche in the competitive fashion market.

With an aim to make every outfit a celebration of India and its rich culture and heritage, Aks was established in 2014 by Nidhi Yadav, a passionate fashion designer and stylist. “Aks Clothing is an Indian Fashion Label proudly designed and curated by some of the best Indian artisans and fashion designers. The brand is dedicated to style-forward and free-spirited people who want to rekindle their love for Indian ethnic wear,” reads the official website of the clothing line.

Aks Clothing, headquartered in Gurgaon with multiple units in Jaipur, has grown into a remarkable success story. By 2021, the company’s revenue soared to Rs 200 crore, achieved entirely without external funding. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Aks adapted by manufacturing masks and PPE kits to sustain operations, while also launching a kidswear line made from leftover fabric, embracing sustainability. Nidhi’s relentless hard work and dedication have not only made her brand a household name but also redefined affordable fashion in India.

Nidhi pursued her B.Tech in Computer Science at Rajiv Gandhi Prodyogiki Vishwavidyalaya from 2004 to 2008. In 2010, she took a leap toward her passion and enrolled at the Polimoda International Institute of Fashion Design & Marketing to hone her skills in fashion and design.
