During a program organized in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday gave a controversial statement regarding the current situation in the country. He said that a disturbing change has taken place in the India created by Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru.

Mehbooba Mufti said that the Hindustan of Gandhi and Nehru has now turned into Lynchistan. He expressed deep concern over the incidents of mob violence being reported in various parts of the country. According to him, such incidents are extremely serious and pose a direct threat to the safety and dignity of the common people.
Gandhi’s India is becoming a ‘lynchistan’. Leaders like Iltija Mufti, Aga Ruhullah, Waheed Para, and others are being put under house arrest. That is why the PDP is organizing programs like Kath Baath to make the youth aware of their rights,” said Mehbooba Mufti.

Mehbooba Mufti’s sharp statement in Anantnag
PDP President said that such incidents happening in different states of India show that an atmosphere of fear and intolerance is being created in the country. He said that this environment is dangerous not only for the society but also for the future of the country. Mehbooba Mufti made this comment while talking to journalists during a program organized in Anantnag. He said that in India, whose foundation was laid by the leaders of the freedom movement, today the feeling of fear and insecurity is increasing among the people.

He said that incidents like mob violence are a serious warning for any civilized society. Such incidents not only raise questions on law and order but also weaken democratic values. According to Mehbooba Mufti, serious introspection is needed to take the country out of such an environment. The PDP chief also said that ensuring the dignity and security of the people is the primary responsibility of any government. He warned that if this atmosphere of fear and intolerance continues, it will affect the coming generations as well.
