Mercedes-Benz expands electric portfolio in India

Mercedes-Benz has once again reaffirmed its dedication towards electric mobility by launching two exclusive battery electric vehicles (BEVs) in India: the G580 and the EQS SUV 450 with EQ technology. These new products further expand the company's electric portfolio, providing luxury and sustainability options to suit customers' diverse needs.

The Mercedes-Benz G580 Edition One with EQ technology is priced starting at INR 3 crore (ex-showroom across India), offering a premium electric off-road experience. Meanwhile, the EQS SUV 450, a luxury electric SUV, is available at a starting price of INR 1.28 crore (ex-showroom across India), making it an accessible option in the high-end electric vehicle market.

The Mercedes-Benz G580 with EQ technology will be launched exclusively in India as an Edition One, with a range of high-end specifications designed for both performance and luxury. Powered by four individually controlled electric motors, the vehicle delivers a combined output of 587 hp and 1,164 Nm, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds.

The Edition One is equipped with advanced features like Burmester 3D surround sound system, MBUX NTG-7 with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and Augmented Reality Navigation. Its off-road capabilities are enhanced with technologies like G-TURN for tight turns, G-STEERING for short turning radius and intelligent off-road crawl function.

Additionally, the G580 has a number of state-of-the-art safety features, including Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC and a 360° camera system. With a 116-kWh battery and a WLTP range of 473 km, the G580 also supports DC fast charging, which takes the battery from 10% to 80% in about 32 minutes. The vehicle's 250 mm ground clearance further enhances its off-road prowess.

Manufactured locally at the brand's state-of-the-art plant in Chakan, Pune, the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 450 4MATIC offers a luxurious and spacious 5-seat configuration designed for maximum comfort. Powered by two electric motors generating 360 hp and 800 Nm of torque, the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.1 seconds.
