Mercedes-Benz S 450 e PHEV launched in India; 115 km electric range and 15 airbags

In the world of luxury cars, the name Mercedes-Benz S-Class has always been considered a symbol of technology, comfort and prestige. For decades, this car has been the first choice of businessmen, politicians and elite customers worldwide. Now Mercedes-Benz has introduced the S 450 e Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) variant in the Indian market, marking an important milestone in the history of the S-Class. Notably, the S-Class series in India is the first to feature plug-in hybrid technology.

According to Mercedes-Benz, this is considered the biggest mid-life update of the current S-Class generation. The S 450 e has been priced at Rs 2.20 crore for the launch edition and Rs 2.38 crore for the Manufaktur edition (ex-showroom). Bookings for this car have started across the country and the customers will start getting deliveries from the last quarter of 2026. The biggest highlight of this luxury sedan is its driving range of up to 115 kilometers in electric-only mode. With the help of a 22 kWh lithium-ion battery and a 120 kW electric motor, the car can complete daily journeys without petrol. The electric motor independently produces 163 hp of power and 440 Nm of torque.

The combined output reaches a whopping 435 hp and 680 Nm with the help of an electric motor and a 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox. So this car can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.7 seconds.
