Message is clear regarding leadership in Congress, Shivkumar said – Rahul Gandhi is the only contender for the post of Prime Minister

Amidst the ongoing discussions about the possible face for the post of Prime Minister in the Congress Party, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has completely rejected these speculations. He clearly said that Rahul Gandhi is his leader and he will lead the party in future also.

What did Shivkumar say?

Shivkumar also reiterated that Rahul Gandhi is the central face for Congress workers and there should not be any confusion on this issue. While talking to journalists in Delhi on Wednesday, DK Shivkumar said that he has no knowledge of such discussions. He told that his leadership in the party is in the hands of the President of All India Congress Committee, whereas Rahul Gandhi’s role as the leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha is clear.

According to Shivkumar, Priyanka Gandhi’s aim is also to see her brother Rahul Gandhi become the Prime Minister of the country, and not to join the race for that post herself. In fact, after a recent statement given by Priyanka Gandhi’s husband Robert Vadra, the discussion had intensified in political circles that Congress may put forward Priyanka Gandhi for the post of Prime Minister in future.

Meanwhile, DK Shivakumar also reacted to the ongoing news regarding change of leadership in Karnataka. He clearly said that there is no dispute of any kind regarding the post of Chief Minister in the state. Shivakumar also clarified that he is satisfied with his role as Deputy Chief Minister and likes to work like an ordinary party worker.

He also rejected the reports in the media that he is meeting the top leadership of the Congress or discussions are being held regarding power sharing in the state. Shivakumar said that all such claims are mere speculations and have no connection with reality.

What did Shivkumar say on decisions related to leadership?

Speaking on decisions related to leadership, he said that the organization has the right to take decisions in the Congress Party and whatever decision is taken, it will be accepted by all. On questions asked on other issues, Shivkumar exercised restraint and said that he did not want to comment on topics beyond his scope.
