Meta AI in WhatsApp will soon remember chats and give more relevant responses

Delhi Delhi. WhatsApp users who frequently use Meta AI – parent company Meta's AI assistant that is also available in Instagram and Facebook – have to tell the bot their preferences every time they start a new chat. In other words, Meta AI doesn't remember things about its users, prompting them to provide the necessary information every time. This could be a food preference that users want Meta AI to take into account when suggesting recipes – or it could be their personal information which is sometimes needed to provide more accurate results. Meta is now working on changing this.

WABetaInfo has spotted a feature called Memory in the Meta AI settings in the latest WhatsApp beta version for Android. As the name suggests, the functionality automatically remembers selected details from chats to deliver more relevant and customized responses, rather than giving everyone the same responses to a question. According to screenshots in the report, “Meta AI automatically remembers parts of your chats to give you more relevant responses.” However, users can ask Meta AI to remember any information specifically. “You can even ask Meta AI to “remember this.”

There are many use cases, but the most common ones might be that a user might ask a meta AI to remember a birthday or ask a future recipe about veganism, or even an AI bot. You can also ask for a custom conversational style for the kind of responses you want. The report said Meta AI could also remember allergies and personal interests, such as preferences for specific books and enjoying documentaries and podcasts. Saved details from a conversation will help Meta AI customize responses for future conversations. For example, it can avoid suggesting recipes that contain ingredients the user is allergic to.

The report states that WhatsApp users can always ask Meta AI to remove certain information at any time. However, it did not say whether the things Meta AI records through WhatsApp conversations will be available on Instagram or Facebook if the user has linked their accounts. This feature is currently in development and available to beta testers using WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.22.9.
