MG Windsor EV beats Tata Nexon EV, becomes India's number 1 electric car
Obnews Automobile Desk: There is a new stir in India's Electric Vehicle (EV) market. The Tata Nexon EV, which was previously India's best-selling electric car, has now lost the title to the MG Windsor EV. Recently launched MG Windsor EV overtakes Tata Nexon in sales figures to account for 30% of total EV sales in October 2024.
Great start of MG Windsor
MG Motor launched the Windsor EV in India in September 2024, and the car has been a great performer since its arrival. In October, it became India's best-selling electric car, leaving the Tata Nexon EV far behind.
Records of sales and bookings
MG Motor India saw a growth of 37.92% in year-on-year sales in October 2024, with the company selling 7,045 units. Talking about Windsor EV, it sold an impressive 3,116 units. Additionally, as soon as its bookings started on October 3, 2024, it garnered 15,176 bookings within 24 hours. This is the highest ever booking figure for any electric car in the Indian market.
Features of Windsor EV
A major reason behind the success of MG Windsor EV is its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model. This car can also be purchased without battery pack. Not only this, the facility of renting battery pack is also provided, the charge for which is Rs 3.5 per kilometer. Due to this, the ex-showroom price of this car starts from only Rs 9.99 lakh, while with the battery pack its price goes from Rs 13.50 lakh to Rs 15.50 lakh.
