MG Windsor EV Without Battery As A Service Prices Start From Rs 13.50 Lakh

MG when they launched the Windsor EV came up with the idea of letting their customers just own the car and not its battery. The only way to get the car was through their Battery As A Service (BaaS) program. A few weeks after the launch of the vehicle, MG has released the full prices of the vehicle which include the battery now and it starts from Rs 13.50 lakh.

We are unsure as to why MG decided to change their minds about the new Battery As A Service program but this being the only way to get into the Windsor EV did turn some heads. Customers had a lot of questions and couldn’t figure out how it worked or why it had to be this way and MG had put a lot of terms and conditions hidden away in smaller text which raised some skepticism. MG although has started to offer the BaaS program with its other EVs as well which include the Comet and the ZS EV.

Subscription and leasing programs have not really worked in the Indian market since people do like to own their vehicles. Not that we have the option to buy the Windsor EV as a whole car, here is the variant wise pricing of the vehicle:

  • Excite: Rs 13.50 Lakh (ex-showroom)
  • Exclusive: Rs 14.50 Lakh (ex-showroom)
  • Essence: Rs 15.50 Lakh (ex-showroom)

The earlier prices started from Rs 9.99 Lakh (ex-showroom) with the battery not included and it being offered on a rental basis of Rs 3.5 per km.

The MG Windsor EV features a 38 kWh battery which gives it an estimated range of 331 kms. It produces 136 bhp and 200 Nm of torque and all the power goes to the front wheels with a single motor setup. It is loaded with features and comes with a 15.6-inch infotainment screen which is the largest in the segment. Other features include an Infinity hi-fi speaker system, a panoramic moonroof and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Bookings for the vehicle will start from October 3 and customers can book it online or go to their nearest MG dealership.
