Because as many as 13,012 houses will be constructed by MHADA in the financial year 2026-27.
These houses will be built in the jurisdiction of our regional boards like Mumbai, Pune, Konkan, Nashik, Amravati, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Nagpur. MHADA’s revised budget for the financial year 2025-26 and the budget for the year 2026-27 were recently submitted to the authority. According to MHADA, 2,538 houses for various income groups are proposed to be constructed in Mumbai. 6,747 crores has been earmarked for construction expenditure in the 2026-27 budget. MHADA has planned to build 5,112 flats in Konkan division, for which a provision of 1,497 crores has been set aside. 665 flats will be constructed in Pune city, for which 664 crores have been allocated. MHADA plans to build 1,483 houses for various income groups under Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, for which 258 crores have been allocated. There is a proposal to build 237 houses for Nashik, for which a provision of 151 crores has been made. Also, 59 crores have been allocated from MHADA to build 969 houses in Amravati. According to MHADA, the 2026-27 budget has earmarked Rs 2,711 crore for works to be undertaken by the Mumbai Slum Improvement Board using MLA funds or government funds. After this, Rs 661 crore was allocated for the repair of ‘cessed’ buildings under the Bombay Building Repair and Reconstruction Board.
