MI vs CSK: MS Dhoni will not play against Mumbai also? Coach’s shocking statement

In IPL 2026, once again disappointing news has emerged for the fans of Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The return of the team’s experienced player Mahendra Singh Dhoni may be postponed further. It is considered almost difficult for him to play in the big match against Mumbai Indians (MI). Dhoni suffered a calf injury during the pre-season, after which he has been out of the team continuously. Now CSK batting coach Michael Hussey has given a statement on his return.

Let us tell you that initially it was expected that MS Dhoni would be fit and return to the field in two weeks, but now his recovery is taking longer than expected. Initially there was talk of being out of four matches, which has now increased to six matches. Fans were hopeful that he would make a comeback against Mumbai but now this possibility also seems less likely.

Coach Hussey expressed uncertainty

CSK batting coach Michael Hussey has made it clear that nothing has been decided yet regarding the return of MS Dhoni. He told reporters after the match in Hyderabad, ‘I don’t know how much time it will take for Dhoni to recover. If the team physio was here, perhaps he would have been able to tell better. Considering Dhoni’s age, the team management does not want to do anything hasty. He will turn 45 in July, so it is natural that it will take a little more time to regain full fitness. CSK wants him to enter the field only when he is fully fit, so that the team can get full benefit.

Running fitness becomes a challenge

Michael Hussey also told that MS Dhoni looks fine in batting but his running fitness is not completely ready yet. In T20 cricket, it is important to run fast while batting, especially in the last overs. In such a situation, Dhoni will have to work on his speed and fitness. At present it is clear that there is still suspense regarding Dhoni’s return. Fans may have to wait a little longer for them to return to the field.
