MI vs PBKS, IPL 2026: Shreyas Iyer Follows His Athleticism With Explosive Fifty And Quinton de Kock’s Ton In Vain

MI vs PBKS IPL 2026: Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings continued their unbeaten run in IPL 2026 as they flattened the Mumbai Indians by seven wickets at the Wankhede Stadium on April 16, Thursday. Arshdeep Singh led the way with the ball by taking three wickets with the ball, while Prabhsimran Singh crafted an explosive knock of 80* as the Punjab Kings needed only 16.3 overs to hunt down 197 at the Wankhede Stadium. Quinton de Kock scored a ton but it went in vain.

Below are the turning points from MI vs PBKS IPL 2026 clash

4) Arshdeep Singh’s twin strike

Arshdeep Singh overcame his drought with two wickets in the IPL 2026 game against the SunRisers Hyderabad in a spell of four overs. Against the Mumbai Indians, he went one step ahead as he sent Ryan Rickelton (2) and Suryakumar Yadav (0) packing in his second over in consecutive deliveries. The left-arm seamer got rid of the dangerous Sherfane Rutherford to finish with figures of 4-0-22-3.

3) Naman Dhir’s wicket for 50

Mumbai Indians sent Naman Dhir at No.4 and the right-hander responded brilliantly by counterattacking the Punjab Kings’ bowling. Having reached his fifty off 29 deliveries, Dhir picked out Xavier Bartlett in the 14th over of the innings, ending a 122-run stand. It was a wicket at the right time for Punjab as Dhir was preparing to cut loose.

2) Shreyas Iyer and Xavier Bartlett combine to take a stunning relay catch

Punjab Kings pacer Xavier Bartlett joined hands with Shreyas Iyer to take an amazing relay catch as it ended Hardik Pandya’s innings at 14. It was the dismissal of Hardik Pandya as the Mumbai Indians skipper slapped a knuckle ball from left-arm seamer Marco Jansen. Shreyas Iyer ran to long-on and covered a decent distance and jumped when he caught the ball. But the Punjab Kings skipper threw the ball back in while being in mid-air to Bartlett, who took the catch comfortably. But it was Iyer’s athleticism and awareness that stood out the most. The all-rounder’s presence until the end could have gotten Mumbai Indians 20 runs more.

1) Jasprit Bumrah drops Prabhsimran’s catch

While Jasprit Bumrah went wicketless yet again, the 32-year-old’s day in the field wasn’t any better. With Prabhsimran Singh only at 11, Bumrah put down a dolly at backward to give him a lifeline. The PBKS opener went on to smash an unbeaten 80 to take their side to victory.
