Micah Parsons gave such an update after the injury that will break your heart! Know what are the chances of playing in today’s match?
Green Bay Packers’ star edge rusher Micah Parsons will miss tonight’s NFC Wild Card playoff match against the Chicago Bears. The reason behind this is his recovery. His absence in this important match of the Packers is a big blow for the team.
How did Parsons get hurt?
Parsons suffered a severe anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in Week 15 against the Denver Broncos. The injury occurred without contact when he fell while passing rushing. This was confirmed by MRI. On December 29, 2025, he underwent successful surgery and was placed on injured reserve. This ended their entire 2025-26 season, including the playoffs.
Normal recovery from an ACL injury takes 8 to 12 months. Parsons performed brilliantly in his first season with the Packers. He recorded 12.5 sacks and 83 pressures in 14 matches.
How difficult is the recovery process?
Parsons recently spoke openly about his recovery on social media. On a fan’s question, he wrote on X, "This recovery process is extremely challenging and painful. Every day I have to endure unbearable pain, but I am becoming strong and bearing it. I am recovering faster than expected. I am feeling God’s blessings in this difficult journey."
Apart from this, he shared videos of initial recovery workouts on Instagram. These included cycling on a stationary bike and leg extensions without weights. The Packers’ coaches and team say his recovery is going ahead of plan. They are trying to return for the start of the next season in September 2026.
Other missing Packers players from the match
Apart from Parsons, the Packers team will be without many important players today. These include:
- WR Deontavian Wicks
- RT Zach Tom
- QB Desmond Ridder
- CB Jaylin Simpson
- DE Colin Oliver
- WR Jacoby Keeney-James
Micah Parsons arrived at Soldier Field before the game, where he was seen with crutches and a knee brace. He was also accompanied by Packers’ cornerback Trevon Diggs. The Bears also have some players inactive, such as third quarterback Case Keenum, CB CJ Gardner-Johnson and others. But for the Packers, the lack of Parsons is leaving a big gap in the defense.
