Michael Jordan wins Daytona 500 trophy, celebrates historic NASCAR win
The six-time NBA champion Michael Jordan has added a new feather to his cap on Sunday, after his 23XI Racing NASCAR team secured its first-ever trophy in the Daytona 500.
Tyler Reddick made history in the No. 45 Toyota, after surviving the chaotic final lap – the one that truly mattered – sending everyone into a frenzy of celebrations.
Following the win, Jordan was seen looking extremely excited two days ahead of his 63rd birthday.
After hugging Reddick, Jordan spoke to the media and revealed the weight of the win, noting, “I can’t even believe it. It’s so gratifying. You never know how these races are going to end. You’re just trying to survive. We hung in there all day. Great strategy by the team, and we gave ourselves a chance at the end. Look, I’m ecstatic.”
Jordan, who defined winning in the NBA, compared the victory of “The Great American Race” to his legendary career as a basketball player.
“It feels like I won a championship but until I get my ring, I won’t even know,” he joked, even ensuring that his ring size is a 13.
The “GOAT” praised the team that made this win possible, noting, “I thought Riley did an unbelievable job pushing at the end. That shows you what teamwork can really, really do.”
This win cemented Jordan’s status as a living champion even after retirement from the NBA.
