Sydney: A terrible terrorist attack took place on Sunday 14 December 2025 on the famous Bondi Beach of Sydney, Australia. This attack was carried out targeting people celebrating Hanukkah festival. In this, a father and his son opened fire, killing at least 15 people and injuring dozens. Former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan was also trapped in this scary scene. He was present there with the family and himself described this incident as very horrifying.

People were celebrating the first day of Hanukkah on Bondi Beach in the evening. Suddenly two attackers started firing at the crowd below from a bridge. The loud sounds of bullets and the noise of people running were echoing in the entire area. According to the police, this attack was specifically targeted at the Jewish community. A 10-year-old little girl and other innocent people were among those killed. Many people are seriously injured and admitted to the hospital.
One of the attackers, a 50-year-old father, was shot dead on the spot by police, while his 24-year-old son was seriously injured and is under police observation in the hospital. The police have declared it a terrorist incident.
Michael Vaughan’s scary experience
Michael Vaughan is currently in Australia to cover the Ashes series. He was at a restaurant in Bondi with his wife, two daughters, sister-in-law and a friend. They were only a few hundred yards away from the attack site. Hearing the sound of gunshots, they all stopped inside the restaurant.
Vaughn wrote on social media that it was very scary to be closed at Bondi’s restaurant. Now they have reached home safely. He thanked the emergency services and the brave man who snatched the weapon from one of the attackers. Also expressed condolences to the affected people.

In his column written in a newspaper, Vaughan told that at first he thought that there was a shark attack or some fight, but when he heard the sound of gunshot, he understood that something very wrong was happening. Watching such attacks on TV from a distance is one thing, but hearing it so close was horrifying.
