Strait of Hormuz Crisis Triggers Biggest Global Oil Supply Disruption

The increasing military tension between Iran, United States and Israel in the Middle East has made the global situation extremely serious. The situation seemed to worsen on the 13th day of the war, where Iran threatened US President Donald Trump Giving a stern warning to America, he said that America will be made to regret its ‘serious mistake’.

Iran’s security chief Ali Larijani said that Tehran is not going to back down. He said that if America attacks Iran’s power infrastructure, the entire area can be plunged into darkness within half an hour and the situation will become extremely dangerous for American soldiers.

  1. Iran’s new supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei Has clearly said that closing the Strait of Hormuz can be a weapon of strategic pressure. This is the most important sea route in the world, through which earlier about 20 million barrels of oil used to pass daily.

There has been a huge decline in oil production and many Gulf countries together have reduced production by about 10 million barrels per day. Crude oil production has decreased by about 8 million barrels per day, due to which oil prices have crossed $ 100 per barrel.
  5. Two oil tankers were attacked near Iraq, in which at least one Indian citizen was killed. About 51 crew members have been evacuated safely. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have claimed responsibility for the attack on an American-owned ship.
  6. Several loud explosions were heard in Iran’s capital Tehran. Clouds of smoke were seen rising in the western part, although it is not yet clear what the target was. These incidents came to light on the 13th day of the war.
  7. Israeli army Israel Defense Forces claimed that it has killed Hezbollah’s missile operations commander Abu Dharr Mohammadi in Beirut. It was told that he was an important face of military coordination between Iran and Hezbollah. This action has further increased regional tension.
