Military, police deploy forces to safeguard 14th National Party Congress

The police are implementing measures to maintain public order, with the security police and functional units maintaining strict controls at the Congress venue, delegates’ accommodations, transportation routes and related activities.

In the next layer of protection, mobile police, special task forces and counterterrorism units are deployed and ready to handle complex situations, prevent disruptions and sabotage, and ensure social order and safety before, during, and after the Congress.

The military will protect key targets, maintain a high state of combat readiness and deploy engineering units to clear bombs, mines and explosive materials to ensure safety in critical areas.

Units are also stepping up patrols and guard duties, tightening management of weapons, equipment and explosives, and ensuring the security of depots, barracks, airports and terminals.

In Hanoi, air defense forces are available round-the-clock, deployed in field positions and ready to deal with low-flying targets and the risk of intrusion by unmanned aerial vehicles, protecting the airspace and key areas during the Congress.

Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Quoc Dat, deputy commander of Battalion 172 under Regiment 64 of Division 361 (Air Defense – Air Force), said his unit has deployed personnel in rotating shifts to conduct daily equipment checks and communications to maintain combat readiness.

“We have developed plans to deal with low-flying targets, especially UAVs, based on possible simulated scenarios,” he said.

Major Nguyen Van Linh, deputy commander of Missile Regiment 236 under Division 361, said his unit has stepped up training and drills to improve coordination among combat crews as planned.

On-duty teams are required to respond quickly to signs of sudden intrusion, ensuring tight control of the assigned airspace.
