GPS system installed in vehicles to ensure the quality of ghee

Tirupati Temple: The famous laddu prasadam made at Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple (Tirupati Temple) in Andhra Pradesh is now using Nandini brand ghee of Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF). Recently, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has given the contract of supply of ghee to Karnataka Milk Federation, due to which GPS system has been installed in vehicles to ensure the quality of ghee. This step has been taken to maintain the sanctity of Prasadam, so that any kind of adulteration can be prevented during the supply of ghee. However, a controversy has arisen regarding the quality and adulteration of ghee in Tirupati laddu. Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan expressed concern over the issue while giving a statement on social media and blamed himself for the animal fat found in the laddu. He said that he would fast for 11 days for this mistake.

Along with this, he described the policies of the state government as damaging the sanctity of Laddu Prasadam. Public interest litigations have also been filed in the Supreme Court and High Court regarding this matter, demanding SIT and CBI to investigate the quality of Prasadam and allegations of corruption. Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam had canceled the supply of ghee from a dairy company based in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu, after an investigation conducted by the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) confirmed adulteration of ghee with fat and fish oil. This controversy escalated further when former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu criticized the Jagan Mohan Reddy government over this ghee adulteration case. He said that the allegations of mixing animal fat in the ghee used in Tirupati Laddu have raised questions on the sanctity of the temple. Tirupati Temple, which is one of the richest and holiest shrines in the world, attracts thousands of devotees daily. Every day 3.50 lakh Laddoo Prasadam are prepared here using pure ghee, gram flour, sugar, and cashews.
