Minister of State Pratima Bagri’s brother arrested in ganja smuggling, brother-in-law has also been arrested a few days ago
Satna :A sensational case has come to light from Satna district of Madhya Pradesh which has shaken the politics of the state. Anil Bagri, real brother of Minister of State for Urban Development and Housing, Pratima Bagri, has been arrested by the police on charges of smuggling ganja in huge quantities. This action has raised big questions on the anti-drug campaigns of the government.
More than 46 kg ganja seized
Let us tell you that according to Additional SP Premlal Kurve, the police received information from the informer that illegal drugs are being stored in Marouha village of Rampur Baghelan police station area. Based on the information, on the night of 7–8 December, the police raided the house of Pankaj Singh, resident of Marouha. 48 packets of ganja were recovered from four sacks hidden under paddy sacks in the tin shed outside the house. On weighing, its total weight came out to be 46 kg 134 grams. Its price in the international market is said to be around Rs 9.22 lakh.
First brother-in-law was caught, now brother also arrested
A big revelation came to light during the interrogation of arrested Pankaj Singh. He admitted that the ganja belonged to Anil Bagri and his brother-in-law Shailendra Singh. After this, the police arrested the minister’s brother Anil Bagri on Monday. Investigation has revealed that this illegal smuggling network was run by Shailendra Singh, who was arrested on December 3 in the case of ganja smuggling in Banda, UP. At present he is lodged in Banda jail.
The court sent the accused to jail
On Monday, the police presented Anil Bagri and Pankaj Singh in the special NDPS court, where Judge Shashikant Verma, seeing the seriousness of the case, sent them to judicial custody till December 19. A case has been registered against the three accused Anil, Pankaj and Shailendra under Section 8/20 and 29 NDPS Act.
Shailendra Singh’s long criminal history exposed again
Investigation revealed that Shailendra Singh had already been caught in drug smuggling. Singhpur police station of Satna had once arrested him with a big network of intoxicating cough syrup, in which transactions worth about Rs 5.5 crores were revealed. Now the arrest of the brother-in-law has once again exposed the entire network.
Raised serious questions on the government
Former Raigaon MLA Kalpana Verma has directly targeted Minister Pratima Bagri. He said that on one hand the government is winning applause among the public by running an anti-drug campaign, while on the other hand the relatives of the minister are openly doing illegal drug trade. He has demanded from the Chief Minister that strict action should be taken against such criminals and this entire syndicate should be eliminated immediately.
