Abdullah bin Zayed strongly condemned Iran’s attacks

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has strongly condemned Iran’s missile and drone attacks, saying the attacks on civilian targets are a “gross violation” of sovereignty and pose a serious threat to regional security.

The UAE’s deputy prime minister said on Wednesday that the “unprovoked” attacks have continued for the past 18 days, using more than 2,000 missiles and drones to target “critical civilian infrastructure, airports, residential areas and other civilian sites” across the country. “The UAE condemns in the strongest terms this continued increase in targeting of civilians and critical installations across the country,” he said.

He added that these attacks have also been strongly criticized internationally and the UN Security Council has passed a resolution demanding Iran to stop such activities “immediately and unconditionally”. Mr Abdullah said the UAE “reserves its full right to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, national security and territorial integrity, in line with international law and the right to self-defence.”

He expressed his “deepest condolences and condolence” to the families of those killed in the attacks, including citizens of Palestine, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal, and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. He expressed condolences to the governments and citizens of the countries concerned, reiterating the UAE’s commitment to ensuring the safety of all citizens, residents and visitors, saying the authorities are “fully prepared to deal with any threat”. The country’s security situation is “improved” and the level of preparedness is at the highest level. He appreciated the “support and solidarity” expressed by more than 130 countries, saying it reflected international confidence in the UAE’s role in promoting regional and global stability.
