Delhi: The sixth match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 was played between Gujarat Giants (GGW) and Mumbai Indians (MIW). In the match, Mumbai won the toss and decided to bowl. Batting first, GG scored 192 runs in 20 overs. In reply, Mumbai won the match with 4 balls remaining.
Gujarat gave a big target
Gujarat Giants, who came to bat first, did not have the start as expected. The team lost an important wicket in the powerplay itself, due to which the run pace slowed down a bit. After this, the batsmen played intelligently and handled the innings. Mumbai’s bowling created pressure in the middle overs and leveled the match by taking consecutive wickets.
However, Bharti Phoolmali and Georgia Wareham batted brilliantly in the last overs. Both scored runs quickly and took Gujarat’s score to 192. This score was special for Gujarat without any batsman scoring a half-century and the team also made a new record.
Easy win for Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians, who came to chase the target of 193 runs, also got an initial setback and one wicket fell early. After this, Haley Mathews gave a fast start to the team by batting aggressively. After his dismissal, Amanjot Kaur and captain Harmanpreet Kaur took over the innings and made the necessary partnership.
After Amanjot’s dismissal, the responsibility completely fell on Harmanpreet Kaur. He batted with patience and hit big shots at the right time. Harmanpreet took full advantage of Gujarat’s fielding mistakes. In the end, Nicola Carey supported him well and both of them took the team to victory.
With this win, Mumbai Indians registered their eighth consecutive win against Gujarat Giants in WPL. Harmanpreet Kaur’s captaincy innings was the biggest feature of this match.
