The alliance of DMK and Congress is saved from breaking, both parties will contest elections on so many seats in Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu Elections: Assembly elections are going to be held in Tamil Nadu this year. All the parties have geared up for the assembly elections. Meanwhile, the final seal has been given on seat sharing between DMK i.e. Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and Congress. A consensus was reached between the two parties on Wednesday. DMK has given 28 assembly seats to Congress. DMK has also given one Rajya Sabha seat to Congress.

According to party leaders, a meeting was recently held between DMK President and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President K Selvaperunthagai, in which the seat sharing formula was discussed.

Such was the result of 2021 assembly elections

Let us tell you, there are 234 assembly seats in Tamil Nadu. DMK had won 133 seats in the 2021 assembly elections. Whereas Congress had won 18 seats. DMK led Secular Progressive Alliance or SPA had won a total of 159 seats. On the other hand, NDA had won 75 seats. The largest party of NDA was AIADMK, which had 66 seats in its account.

The alliance between the two parties was about to break

If party sources are to be believed, the alliance between Congress and DMK has been going on since 2004. The alliance between the two parties was on the verge of breaking this year. However, senior Congress leader P Chidambaram met Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin on Tuesday. There were long talks between the two parties, after which a seat agreement could be reached between the two.

Congress was insisting on increasing seats in the assembly elections. When talks did not work out between the two parties, the Congress high command sent Chidambaram for talks. It is being said that Stalin wanted to give only 25 seats to Congress but due to the meeting of Chidambaram and Stalin, Congress was able to get three more seats, after which now DMK agreed to give 28 seats to Congress instead of 25.

Selvaperunthagai said- High command and Congress workers are happy

On seat sharing, Tamil Nadu Congress President K. Selvaperunthagai said that we have got 28 seats. After 40 years we have got three additional seats and one Rajya Sabha seat. The party has welcomed 28 seats. The people of Tamil Nadu want a Congress-DMK alliance. The high command and Congress workers are very happy with this seat sharing. This time in the assembly elections we are going to win more than 210 seats.

How many seats does which party currently have in the Tamil Nadu Assembly?

At present, the ruling party has 158 seats in the Tamil Nadu Assembly and the opposition has 67 seats. The largest party in the assembly is DMK, which has 133 seats. Whereas Congress, which is part of the ruling alliance, has 17 seats, VCK has 4, CPM has 2 and CPI has two seats. Apart from this, the largest opposition party in the assembly is AIADMK, which has 60 seats. BJP has four seats and PMK has three seats. Apart from this, PMK (R) has two seats in its account. Let us tell you, seven seats are currently lying vacant.
