Under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGA) in Amravati district, there is a picture of a huge fund of materials being owed to the government along with the wages of the labourers. On the one hand, the number of works is increasing, on the other hand, the laborers are not getting their wages on time.

Now we have to wait
Although the total arrears have now reduced to some extent, the workers have to wait as the funds for their wages are still pending. After Diwali, the attendance of laborers at work, which had decreased for some time, is now seen to be on the rise again.
Name of MGNREGA ‘VB-G Ram-G’
Central Govt When a bill was introduced in Parliament to rename MGNREGA as ‘VB-G Ram-G’, opposition leaders were furious. Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi pointed out the flaws in the bill, but also said, “The government is wasting people’s hard-earned money on name change politics. Every name change costs the government a lot of money.” Now, you might be wondering: Does a name change really cost that much? And if so, where does this money go? What is it used for?
Before estimating the cost, you need to understand the scale of the scheme. The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) is the largest social security scheme in the world. It is applied in every village in India from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. So far, approximately 250 million workers have joined, while 143.3 million are active. It is spread over 2,69,000 gram panchayats, over 7,000 groups and over 700 districts. This means that any change in the plan is going to affect them all equally.
