According to the South Korean newspaper Chosunas reported by ZnewsKim stated she was in the Philippines to promote beauty products and to launch a lingerie brand where she encountered the businessman, referred to only as A.
Representatives for Kim disclosed that while Kim and A were drinking alcohol, A tied up and blindfolded the model. They further declared that A compelled Kim to inhale a strange substance and threatened her with a gun, leaving her no option but to obey.
“We are concerned that if A recorded a video using his mobile phone, it could cause problems later,” her representatives stated. “Therefore, Kim Na Jeong filmed herself with her phone and tried to preserve the video by sending it through AirDrop. With this video, we can prove that Kim Na Jeong was in a helpless state.”
Kim’s lawyer stated that A is sought for multiple crimes and is currently unable to return to South Korea. The lawyer confirmed that Kim had used drugs for the first time under duress and is not addicted.
It was also noted by Kim’s representative that A had sent threatening messages concerning her life and her family if she reported the incident to the police. The police have consequently provided Kim with a smartwatch for her protection. They have also announced plans to summon her for further questioning about the incident.
Upon arriving at Seoul’s Incheon International Airport from Manila on Nov. 12, Kim, 32, was detained and interrogated by airport police for two hours before being released. It is reported that a rapid drug test conducted at the time showed positive results for Philopon, a substance commonly abused in South Korea.
Before being detained, the model sought help online while still in Manila, expressing fear of boarding a plane or leaving the Philippines due to threats to her life and looking for ways to contact the South Korean Embassy in the Philippines. However, she later admitted in a post to using drugs in the Philippines and experiencing hallucinations.
Kim has been active as a model, weather presenter, and announcer since 2011, earning recognition for her work with multiple television stations. She won the “Miss Maxim” contest in 2019 and has appeared in programs like SBS’ “Black Sheep Game” and Wave Original’s “Ideology Verification Zone: The Community.”
