The Center on Friday transferred tax collection of Rs 1.73 lakh crore to the state governments to increase the pace of development and accelerate welfare activities. The Finance Ministry said in a statement, ‘To enable states to accelerate capital expenditure and finance their development and welfare activities, more amount of tax collection has been transferred this month.’

The ministry said that the central government has released tax transfer of Rs 1,73,030 crore to the state governments, whereas tax transfer of Rs 89,086 crore was made in December 2024. Currently, 41 percent of the taxes collected by the Center are transferred among the states in several installments during the financial year.

Sikkim has received the least amount of the tax share transferred by the Central Government to the states in January 2025. The Central Government has transferred Rs 671.35 crore to Sikkim and Rs 667.91 crore to Goa. These states got the most money

The states to which the Central Government has transferred the most money in Union Tax and Duty are Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar, out of which Uttar Pradesh has received the maximum amount of Rs 31,039 crore in Union Tax and Duty. .
