The Central Government has taken a big decision to improve the functioning of the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts important examinations like NEET, JEE Main, CUET and UGC NET. . Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced on Tuesday that from the year 2025, NTA will conduct only entrance examinations for higher education institutions. NTA will not conduct recruitment examinations from next year. He also said that NTA will be reorganized next year. 10 new posts will be created in the examination agency.

The Union Minister said that the government wants to move towards computer based examination and technology based entrance examination in the near future. Regarding the medical entrance examination, he said that talks are going on with the Health Ministry regarding whether the NEET UG examination should be conducted in pen paper mode or online.
The Union Minister also clarified that the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) UG will be conducted only once a year. Let us tell you that through CUET UG, one can get admission in graduate courses of more than 260 universities of the country like DU, BHU, Jamia, Allahabad University.
He said the agency would be restructured in 2025, with at least ten new positions being created. Many changes will be made in the functioning of NTA to ensure that there are no mistakes in the work. He said that the government is considering moving towards computer adaptive tests, technology based entrance examinations in future.
Let us tell you that after the irregularities in NEET UG 2024 and UGC NET were exposed, the Central Government had formed a committee to improve the working style of NTA and ensure transparent, smooth and fair conduct of the entrance examinations conducted by it. This committee had recommended many reforms.

The committee gave these suggestions
1- Like JEE Main, NEET should also be conducted in more than one phase.
2- Offline examinations should be reduced, where online mode is not possible, there should be an option of hybrid examinations (both online and offline pen paper mode). Where online examination is not possible, question papers should be sent in digital mode and answers should be written on OMR sheets.
3- The number of attempts in major examinations including the medical entrance examination NEET should be limited.
4- The number of subjects in CUET examination should be reduced.

5- The role of outsourcing personnel should be reduced. The number of private centers being outsourced should be reduced.
6- The number of permanent employees in NTA should be increased.
Indications of changes in JEE and NEET conducting process. Earlier in the second week of December, at XLRI, Jamshedpur, he had said that there will be many changes in other central competitive examinations including JEE and NEET from next year. Will be done. Help of state governments will also be taken to organize it. Since these examinations are conducted in different states, now they will be conducted in coordination with the state governments. For this, coordination will be established between NTA and state governments.
Till now these examinations were conducted by the central agency only, but after the issue of paper leak came to light recently, the Education Ministry has made changes regarding the conduct of these examinations. Pradhan said that after the recent paper leak incident, an investigation committee was formed. After receiving the investigation report to bring transparency, a road map has been prepared to ensure that incidents of paper leak do not recur.
