New Delhi. Addressing a joint press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin at Hyderabad House on Friday, Prime Minister Modi said that I am happy to welcome President Putin to the 23rd India-Russia summit today. PM Modi said that we will take 25 years of India-Russia relations forward. We will further advance our trade relations and together we have prepared a trade plan till 2030. For Russians, India will facilitate the issuance of free East Tourist Visa for 30 days. This facility will be available for both solo and group passengers.

This visit will give strength to both the countries to face global challenges together.

PM Modi said that there have been talks between India and Russia on the issue of Ukraine and India has been in favor of peace and not any one country in this matter. In such a situation, India wants that there will be peace between the two countries. Similarly, both the countries will support each other on the issue of terrorism because it is a direct threat to humanity. PM Modi thanked the Russian President for his visit to India and said that he hopes that this visit will give strength to both the countries to face global challenges together.

Now with the opening of two new Russian Consulates in India, people-to-people contacts and exchanges will further increase.

In the press briefing, Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked about taking India-Russia relations to a new dimension. He spoke extensively on many important areas and made several major announcements. PM Modi said that India-Russia relations have always been important regarding energy and security and will remain strong in future also. He further said that there has been a deep connection of culture in the relations between the two countries. Now with the opening of two new Russian Consulates in India, people-to-people contacts and exchanges will further increase. Taking a big step towards tourism, Prime Minister Modi has announced that 30 days free visa for Russian citizens will be started soon, which will give new impetus to tourism, education and business contacts. This visa will also be available for groups. The PM said that the Manpower Mobility Agreement will further strengthen workforce cooperation between the two countries.

Talking on India-Russia relations, PM Modi said that it has been 25 years since you took office in 2001 and visited India for the first time. In that first visit itself, a strong foundation of strategic partnership between the two countries was laid. It is a matter of happiness for me that my relationship with you has also completed 25 years. I believe the role you played in 2001 is a great example of how a visionary leader can take relationships from where they start.

Prime Minister Modi said that the world has faced many crises since Covid-19 and expressed hope that the global challenges will soon be overcome. He said that I am confident that today we will discuss many important global issues. India and Russia’s economic ties should be further strengthened, and together we should aim to scale new heights. With such an optimistic outlook we will look forward to our meeting. This is a strong belief.

Both the countries together are going to do trade worth 100 billion US dollars by the year 2030: Russian President Vladimir Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that we have discussed international issues with India. Russia is talking about many important bilateral agreements with India. Both the countries together are going to do trade worth 100 billion US dollars by the year 2030. In the joint press briefing, Russian President Vladimir Putin said many important things on India-Russia relations, global issues, energy cooperation and the direction of the coming decade. President Putin said- ‘Thank you to my friend PM Modi, President Draupadi Murmu and all Indians. The food at your home was very good. Putin said that areas like security, trade, culture and economic cooperation were given priority in the talks. He said that the agreements will give new impetus to bilateral economic relations and further strengthen the India-Russia partnership. He told that India and Russia are working on European-Eurasian Free Trade Agreement and both the countries are increasing trade through national currency.

Putin further said that I and PM Modi have had mutual talks. We keep discussing many important issues on telephone. The mutual relations between Russia and India are very strong. Our mutual relations are getting stronger everywhere including economic.
