New Delhi:Today, Congress is going to start a big political campaign against the Narendra Modi government at the Center in the historic Ramlila Maidan of the capital Delhi. The party has named this show of strength as ‘Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod’ Maharally. Congress claims that this rally is being organized to protect democracy and raise the voice of the people. Thousands of Congress workers and supporters from different states of the country have reached Delhi and the party leadership is seeing this as an important political message before the upcoming elections.

Controversial slogans increased the ruckus before the rally

Even before the mega rally started, the program got embroiled in controversies. Some Congress workers who came to participate in the rally raised very objectionable and controversial slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Slogans like ‘Modi will dig your grave, if not today then it will be dug tomorrow’ heated up the political atmosphere. The video of these slogans is becoming increasingly viral on social media, after which heated arguments have started between Congress and BJP.

Viral video raised new controversy

In the video surfaced on social media, it can be seen that some female and male workers are simultaneously raising controversial slogans against the Prime Minister. Along with this, slogans like ‘Vote thief, Gaddi chhod’ are also being heard. After the video surfaced, opposition parties have raised questions on Congress and called it against political decorum. BJP supporters say that such language reflects politics of hatred and not democratic protest.

Such sloganeering has happened before also

This is not the first time that sloganeering by Congress workers has come into controversy. Even before this, objectionable comments and slogans have been raised against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the election atmosphere. Even during the Bihar Assembly elections, the comments made by some leaders associated with the Congress regarding the Prime Minister’s mother had created a big controversy. At that time also the Congress leadership had to give clarification and the party tried to distance itself from such statements.

BJP’s sharp attack on Congress

After the controversial slogans came to light, BJP has launched a scathing attack on Congress. BJP leaders say that Congress has failed in doing politics of issues and has now resorted to personal attacks. The party alleges that such language not only hurts the dignity of the post of Prime Minister, but also harms the political culture of the country. BJP has clearly demanded Congress to condemn this sloganeering.

Congress’s clarification

There has been no official clear statement on these slogans from the Congress yet, but party sources say that this could be a personal reaction of some workers. The Congress leadership emphasizes that the purpose of the rally is to raise questions related to government policies, electoral process and democratic institutions, and not to use derogatory language against any individual.
