Modi’s aggressive campaign in the South, Rahul missing! Is the Congress-DMK alliance breaking?

New Delhi:The electoral atmosphere in Tamil Nadu is becoming increasingly heated, where on one hand BJP and NDA have entered the fray with full force, while on the other hand questions are being raised about the strategy of Congress. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s frequent visits and rallies have further deepened the election tone.

On the contrary, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s stay away from election campaign in the state till now has become a topic of discussion in political circles. His absence has given rise to speculations that all is not well between the Congress and DMK alliance.

PM Modi’s vigorous election campaign

Narendra Modi has visited Tamil Nadu thrice in the last two months and is busy creating an atmosphere in support of NDA candidates.

His campaign will continue and on April 15, he will address a big public meeting in Nagercoil and ask for votes.

Questions raised on Rahul Gandhi’s absence

Rahul Gandhi has not yet campaigned in Tamil Nadu. This distance has raised the question whether everything is not normal between Congress and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.

Political analysts are comparing this situation with the 2021 assembly elections, when Rahul Gandhi started campaigning with a three-day tour in January itself.

Distance seen in Puducherry

According to reports, during the election campaign in Puducherry, Rahul Gandhi in his address criticized ally party DMK and its leader M.K. Didn’t even mention Stalin’s name.

The interesting thing is that Stalin was also present in Puducherry on the same day, but the programs of both the leaders were planned in such a way that they could not come face to face. Rahul Gandhi campaigned in the morning, while Stalin arrived in the evening.

Increased tussle over seat sharing?

A DMK official said,"Rahul did not mention Stalin’s name even once in his speech."

In response to this, Stalin also did not mention Rahul Gandhi. Political experts believe that this distance could be the result of differences between the two parties regarding seat sharing.

DMK’s clarification

Amid reports of rift in the alliance, DMK organizational secretary R.S. Bharti said that the programs of both the parties were already decided and last minute changes were not possible. He also claimed that both the leaders will soon be seen campaigning together.

Suspense on Rahul Gandhi’s visit

According to Congress sources, the schedule of Rahul Gandhi’s Tamil Nadu tour has not been decided yet. However, there is a possibility that after the first phase of voting in Assam, Kerala and Puducherry, he may reach the state for campaigning.
According to a senior Congress official, Rahul Gandhi may visit Tamil Nadu after April 10.
