Mohammad Kaif’s suggestion for India’s next T20 captain after Suryakumar Yadav: Sanju Samson

New Delhi. After India’s historic victory in the T20 World Cup 2026 (2026 T20 World Cup), now the discussion regarding the team’s future leadership has intensified. This debate has been started by former Indian cricketer and commentator Mohammad Kaif. Kaif has clearly said that Sanju Samson is the most worthy contender to become the captain of the next Indian T20 team.

According to Kaif, experience and mental stability are the most important qualities to be a captain, and Sanju has both. He said, “Only the captain is good who has seen the world. Sanju is fit for this role. Giving captaincy to a new player directly can be risky. He should face international rigors and should have leadership experience on a big stage like IPL.”

Sanju Samson has captained Rajasthan Royals in the IPL and taken the team to the finals. Mohammad Kaif described this experience as important for the leadership of the Indian team. Giving an example, Kaif said that Rohit Sharma also became the captain at the age of 30-32, when he had already proved his maturity by winning five trophies in the IPL. Similarly, Sanju’s 31 years of experience and ability to handle pressure in matches makes him a “mature” captain.

Kaif also expressed confidence in Sanju’s fitness and recent performance. He said, “If Sanju maintains his fitness and form, he will be a strong contender to lead India in the 2028 T20 World Cup. His calm nature and bravery are an inspiration for the new generation of players.”

  • Experience in the T20 format, mental strength and captaincy understanding make Sanju Samson the most suitable choice to become the next captain of the Indian team after Suryakumar Yadav. Now the eyes of the fans are fixed on when the team management announces this decision in the future.
