Leave the tournament and come home! Mohammad Rizwan deeply insulted in Australia, created ruckus over retired out in Pakistan
Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL) Whatever happened to Mohammad Rizwan has created a stir in the circles of Pakistan cricket. Against Sydney Thunder, Melbourne Renegades recalled wicketkeeper-batsman Rizwan mid-innings. During the match, Rizwan was playing so slowly that the team management had to retire him. Due to which Mohammad Rizwan is being insulted a lot on social media.
This incident is also in the news because Rizwan has become the first foreign player in the history of Big Bash League, who was asked to return to the dugout in the middle of the innings without getting out. Many former cricketers in Pakistan have called this decision insulting and some have even advised Rizwan to leave the tournament and return home.
What happened in the match?
Playing for Melbourne Renegades, Mohammad Rizwan scored 26 runs in 23 balls. However, during this time he did not appear completely comfortable and the team management appeared dissatisfied with the strike rate. For this reason, he was called back to the dressing room even before the end of the innings. Tactical changes are common in T20 cricket, but recalling a batsman mid-innings without being out is considered extremely rare. This is the reason why this decision became a topic of discussion in the cricket world.
Former players angry in Pakistan
Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal expressed his opinion on this entire matter in the ongoing discussion on GTV Sports. During the program, the host reminded Akmal of the incident that happened with Younis Khan in the first season of IPL, and also mentioned Rizwan’s poor strike rate.
He said, “You have talked in detail about improving the strike rate of Babar and Rizwan on your show and on YouTube. What has happened to Rizwan has not only caused ridicule across the world but has also created a sense of humiliation. Some people are even saying that Rizwan should leave the league and return home.”
Bad form of Rizwan and Babar
Talking about the recent T20 form, both Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam do not seem to be in form. Both of them have failed to leave their impact in the Big Bash League. Rizwan has scored 167 runs in 8 matches, whereas Babar Azam’s performance has been worse, Babar has scored only 154 runs despite 2 half-centuries.
