'Baba ki jay ho': Mohammed Shami fires back at Sanjay Manjrekar over IPL 2025 mega auction prediction

New Delhi: Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami has slammed Sanjay Manjrekar for his IPL 2025 mega auction prediction. Shami took to the social media platform Instagram to fire back at Manjrekar. His post came in relation to Manjrekar predicting that Shami’s value will see a sharp decline in the IPL 2025 mega-auction.

The star fast bowler posted an Instagram story on Thursday morning and wrote that Manjrekar should keep his knowledge to himself and save it for the future.

“Baba ki jai hooooo. Will saving a little knowledge for your future also help Sanjay G? “Who knows the future to meet sir,” Shami posted on his Instagram story.

Earlier, Sanjay Manjrekar on Star Sports said that the franchises will definitely be interested in buying Shami but his recent injury history will concern them about a potential breakdown during the season and this concern might lead to a drop in his price tag.

“There will definitely be interest from teams, but given Shami’s injury history—and this recent one took a significant amount of time to recover—there’s always a concern about a potential breakdown during the season. If a franchise invests heavily and then loses him mid-season, their options become limited. This concern might lead to a drop in his price tag” Manjrekar said on Star Sports.

Shami took 28 wickets in the IPL 2023 and won the purple cap but he missed the 2024 season due to an injury. He will be on the radar of many IPL franchises after the sensational campaign in the 2023 ODI World Cup where he picked up 24 wickets.

Shami named in Bengal’s squad for SMAT

After the sensational comeback in the Ranji Trophy, Shami has been included in the Bengal squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024-25. His fitness will be further assessed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in the tournament, which is set to start on November 23.

The national selection committee and medical staff want Shami to play a few more matches before taking the flight to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
