Mohammed Shami receives support from Irfan Pathan ahead of return to Indian cricket team

Mohammed Shami is working hard at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru to stage a comeback to the national team after almost a year. He hasn’t played a match since the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup. The pacer underwent Achilles Tendon surgery earlier this year.

Shami recently bowled to Shubman Gill and Team India’s assistant coach Abhishek Nayar after the conclusion of the first Test against New Zealand in Bengaluru. He is posting regular videos to give fans a glimpse of his training.  Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan commented on his most recent clip, urging the speedster to return soon.

“Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out,” Shami captioned the post.

“Come soon bhai,” Irfan wrote.

Shami has given a message to the out-of-form Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj, who took two wickets in the series opener against the Kiwis in Bengaluru. Shami mentioned that Siraj is not able to execute his plans.

“Siraj is an experienced guy, but things are not happening for him at the moment. He wants to pick up the wickets, but the batters are not getting out, and even the catches are being dropped. There is no need to get frustrated, as these phases are part and parcel of the game.

“He should concentrate on the basics and pick a spot to bowl there. No one will be able to stop you once you start taking wickets,” Mohammed Shami said.

Shami is expected to play for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy before returning to the Indian team.
