Mohammed Shami started training with Team India in Kolkata before the T20 series against England.
Shami made a spectacular comeback in competitive cricket, having last participated in the final of the ODI World Cup 2023. After undergoing ankle surgery and recovering from a number of complications, he returned to the field for Bengal in a Ranji Trophy match against Madhya Pradesh in November. Earlier on January 11, Shami was included in the Indian team for the upcoming T20 series against England.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared some glimpses of the 34-year-old player's return to the team. Team India's bowling coach Morne Morkel was keeping a close eye on Shami during his first practice session with the Men in Blue after returning from injury.
Meanwhile, Shami wrote on his official Instagram handle that he is ready to make his countrymen proud once again. Shami wrote on Instagram, “All set to make you all proud once again… keep up your love and support.” The five-match T20 series will start on January 22 in Kolkata. The second and third matches will be held on January 25 and 28 in Chennai and Rajkot respectively. The fourth match of the series will be played on 31 January in Pune. Mumbai will host the last match of the T20 series on 2 February.
