Mohammed Shami to not feature in Bengal’s next match in Ranji Trophy: Report
Indian pacer Mohammed Shami, who has been recovering from an ankle injury which he sustained last year, will not be featuring in Bengal’s upcoming match against Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy. The squad led by Anustup Majumdar, announced on Saturday, did not include Shami’s name.
It is likely that Shami will participate in Bengal’s 5th match of the tournament which will be played against Madhya Pradesh at the Holkar stadium in Indore from November 13.
The Bengal side with Laxmi Ratan Shukla at the helm, is currently placed on the fourth spot in the Elite Group C with 5 points after 3 Ranji Trophy matches.
“Shami will not be playing the Bengal game against Karnataka, and most probably, he will play the match against Madhya Pradesh. The information received from the BCCI Centre of Excellence was that he will not be rushed into action. There have also been thoughts that Shami wants to do his competitive cricket return at his pace and comfort,” sources told IANS.
It will be interesting to see whether Shami will make his much-awaited comeback with the Ranji Trophy or he will take even more time to fully recover.
