Sangh should not be seen through the prism of BJP, Bhagwat said – RSS’s aim is to make India a world leader.
Mohan Bhagwat West Bengal Visit: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat shared important points on the purpose and mission of the Sangh during the RSS 100 lecture series event held in Kolkata. He said that to understand the Sangh, looking at it from any particular perspective or comparing it can create confusion. Bhagwat clarified that the Sangh is neither an ordinary service organization, nor should it be seen through the prism of BJP.
Emphasizing the basic objective of establishing the Sangh, Bhagwat said, “The answer to the establishment of the Sangh is in a single sentence, ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai.’ Here India is not just a country, but a special nature and tradition. Our aim is to maintain that tradition and prepare the society to make India a world leader again.” He also said that the Sangh was not born out of any political objective, competition or opposition. “The Sangh is dedicated to the organization, advancement and protection of Hindu society,” He said.
Bhagwat’s visit to West Bengal
Mohan Bhagwat started his 4-day tour of West Bengal on 18 December. Political experts believe that this visit is very important, as it is happening just before the upcoming assembly elections in the state. During this, Bhagwat shared important things regarding the spread of Sangh and its ideology in the state.

Citing the example of history in his speech, Bhagwat said that the armed struggle against the British had ended after the death of Subhash Chandra Bose, but the process of social reform, which had been going on since the time of Raja Ram Mohan Roy, remained a continuous wave. He described it as an island in the middle of the ocean, which continued to move.

Mohan Bhagwat also said that now we need to strengthen our society. Referring to India’s great heritage, he said that we have to be ready to lead the world. “In the past we lost the war with the British, but now we have to strengthen our society,” He said.

Bhagwat’s speech also emphasized the importance of the Sangh, India’s power and global role, and conveyed that the purpose of the Sangh was not just political, but to re-awaken the prosperity of the society and its cultural stream.
